Overnight Deschutes River Rafting Trips with Orion
Class III - IV Whitewater :: Easy to moderate :: Ages 6 +
High desert canyons :: 5-Day, 4-Night Trip :: Close to Seattle/Portland

The Deschutes River, in north central Oregon, on the sunny, dry eastern edge of the Oregon Cascades, is an exceptional multi-day river rafting trip for every member of the family. The season for the Deschutes River is year-round because of several upriver dams and the unique, porous nature of the surrounding bedrock. However, the best time to go whitewater rafting on the Deschutes River, is sometime between the beginning of April and the end of October. Orion offers river trips on the Deschutes River from 3 days to 5 days. An overnight river adventure with Orion includes all meals from lunch on the very first day through lunch on the last day, professional guides, camping gear (with the exception of sleeping bags), a courtesy shuttle arranged at the river and all necessary river gear. On a Deschutes River trip, when you are not challenging the whitewater rapids in a paddle raft or inflatable kayak, you can hike, fish, swim, float the rapids in your lifejacket or just relax in camp --- sipping your favorite beverage and munching on appetizers, while reading a book.

Orion's river trips fill-up early. Sign-up early to ensure your trip date availability.

Whitehorse Rapids
A long serpentine Class III rapid jumbled with obstacles and splashy waves.

Boxcar Rapids
A blind, screaming right turn into a maelstrom of whitewater turbulence and a mountainous wave, all the while smiling for the cameras.

Oak Springs Rapids
A quarter mile of Class III-IV whitewater slots through basalt channels and past an island of columnar basalt.

Wreck Rapids
Named for a mid-20th century head-on collision between two locomotives, Wreck Rapids lives up to its reputation at times with massive haystacks of whitewater.

Washout Rapids
A large raft-swallowing reversal lurks in the midst of a set of fun rollercoaster waves.
