New & Improved! MEETING POINTNear Yakima, WA, non-stop class III whitewater wending its path through Red Rock Canyon, fast, narrow and splashy.
Our guides will meet your group at a dirt road pull-out on the south side of U.S. 12. Coming from Seattle, this will be 4.9 miles west of the junction of U.S. 12 & Hwy. 410; from Tacoma, this will be 3 miles east of Windy Point campground.
The most direct route from Seattle is to take I-90 east through Ellensburg and then turn south on I-82 to Yakima where you will find an exit for U.S. 12 heading northwest toward Naches, WA and Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park. Once past Naches, look for the fork in the road that marks the junction of U.S. 12 & Hwy. 410, and veer left to stay on U.S. 12.
From Tacoma, take State Hwy. 7 south to Morton, WA. At Morton, turn east on U.S. 12 and follow over White Pass. Once you pass Rimrock Dam (a.k.a. 'Tieton Dam', at the east end of Rimrock Lake), the meeting point is approximately 15.1 miles.
** Be on the lookout for the white ORION buses, and allow 2 hours, 45 minutes driving time. **
-- Camping is plentiful in this area, and you may find it helpful and relaxing to camp the night before or after your trip. This would also give you the chance to take advantage of some great hikes in the area, including the Pacific Crest Trail. Contact the Naches Ranger Station at 509/653-2205 for more information.
Meet Time: TBD
Distance from Seattle: 153 miles - 2 hours, 23 minutes
